After spending three days at Rich River I headed down river Towards Barham along the unsealed road on the NSW side, I love driving on these dirt roads and this one was in good condition. I even stopped and enjoyed a nice cuppa in a gravel pit, love doing that.
I came to Barham and checked out Barham Down Golf Course. Nice but just didn't do it for me so I drove on over the river to Koonbrook, which is only a 7 iron over the river from Barham. I camped in the little RV camp and rode my bike over the river and checked things out as well as grabbing a few supplies. Took a few shots on the river walk.
Drove through Swan Hill and over the river to Murray Downs Golf Club.
I liked the look of this place and the pro asked if I'd like to play in the comp. You bet cha!
This was a great course and would look fantastic in spring. The greens were the fastest I've played on for a long time. But despite that I putted pretty good. (don't laugh you golfing buddies of mine, I know what your thinking)
My drives were spot on only missed two fairways. Like all these courses they are big and wide, but this course was sneaky hard. Well worth playing this course, loved it.
After Murray downs golf there was no camps in Swan Hill and everyone kept telling me about the great RV camp at Nyah about 25 k's above Swan Hill. Some said it is the best camp they have ever seen (don't think they have seen too many)./ But it was pretty good and I'll stay here over the weekend.
The weather isn't too good so won't be doing much.
As you can see I've been baking and washing and practicing my golf all over the huge oval here.
When I drove into Swan Hill I set up my camera on a tripod and made a video of driving into Swan Hill, sounds boring but it was very relaxing watching it and listening to Neil Diamond playing on the stereo. I was keen to put it on this site for you to see and I can't believe how much trouble I came across doing so. First I couldn't transfer the file as it was of a weird media. So to remedy the problem I videoed the replay of the small screen of my camera with my phone. It worked out not too bad. When I went to load it on the blog it wouldn't except it and after a lot of research I discovered it will only take a YouTube download.. So I downloaded it on YouTube (I think it will go viral) FINALLY I got it all done..
Only trouble now when you go to watch it error message say's you need permission to watch !!!
So for now I'll leave it and try again later.
I went out to West Nyah ( a couple of k's out the road, Both Nyah's are only very small, but why two??) My purpose was to fin an engineer to do some small welding job for me which together we completed this morning and I'm really happy with the results, This is a little project that I've been working on for several months and it won't be long before I give you a full presentation of the finished project, so excited.
When I finished with the engineer in Nyah I heard on the news that NSW are shutting the border to Victoria, DOH!
I was waiting for this before I made my next move. My plan was to go up to Mildura and from there wander through Victoria to The Grampians. I would maybe spend a week there exploring the area, but this virus in Vic. has changed my plans.
When I heard the news I packed up my van and headed for NSW. So Balranald s were I ended up, right under the tower you see. This is a RV stop right in town. there are two RV stops here but I like this one a lot better and it's not far away from the golf course. Don't worry I've already checked it out and I may have a hit there tomorrow.
Murray Downs Golf Course.
