I travelled South staying at various campsites along the way. I ventured into another farm stay and the owner was very forward with his rules and regulations, after explaining all of them he gave me a business card and pointed out that all the rules are printed on the back, and I noticed at the end was added, 'If you don't understand any of these rules ring me on 04....'. So much for making you welcome. He sent me down into a paddock besides the river that in the end wasn't that great anyway. Later that night he decided to let a mob of cows in to the paddock that decided in the middle of the night my caravan bumper was a great back scratcher, several times.
I have given up on farm stays from now on, they take your money and give nothing in return other than a paddock that I can get anywhere with facilities and better scenery for nothing. (bloody tight arse).
I contacted my cousin Chris and his wife Yvette at Harvey Bay and arranged to stay there. I had the back yard to myself for a week as they went to Surfers Paradise. I had a lovely relaxing time and did some serious maintenance on both car and caravan. (full service, cut and polish and suspension overhaul).
When they returned Chris took me out to Frazer Island on his brand new jet ski. It was bloody hard work going out hanging on with grim death over a choppy open waters and I was pretty stuffed and sore that night. Maybe a little age may have something to do with that.
1/3 of the way out we stopped off at Morey Island, this was just part of a big sand bar that has suddenly established itself into an island that grass has really established and Chris has planted some small trees that he hopes will grow. It's called Morey Island as that's what Chris and Yvette have named it. (He's going to erect a sign there). A very nice and peaceful spot.
It is a really lovely place on Frazer and the sand and water are so pure, it's also a lot bigger then I imagined it to be.
I stayed and watched State of Origin as Chris and Yvette are mad Queensland supporters, and I gave them heaps when we won (glad I didn't stay for the next game).
I'm now heading towards Toowoomba and from there I don't know, so I'll catch you soon
Regards Doug
