After leaving the Gibb River Road I stopped off at Fitzroy Crossing and enjoyed a very relaxing boat trip up Geikie Gorge then travelled on to the Bungle Bungels. A pretty rough and winding road in with some pretty deep water crossings but well worth the trip. When you first see the unusual bee hive shaped landscape it takes your breath away. Whole ranges are covered with them, absolutely amazing, especially the walk into the Cathedral Gorge where I meet a young couple who were just finishing a 4 day hike.
Then on the other side of the range is Echidna Chasm with 200m high walls and a narrow path where you walk to a chamber. The light coming down is pretty special as well as the Livistonia Palms at the entrance. All in all a very special place to see.
I finally arrived back at Parry's Creek Camp where I stayed and relaxed for the rest of the week.
I was even allowed the use of their workshop where I gave the car and the van a much needed service.
Early one morning I drove to nearby Marlgu Billabong and bird hide where I took heaps of photos of course. But my favorite shot is the sunrise with the boab tree, love those shots.
Also drove on up to Wyndham to check that town and the pretty amazing lookout.
After saying farewell to Ann and Tim and all the staff at Parry's I headed out past Kununurra to Lake Argyle.
Then I decided to travel South after much deliberation. So I'll go back across the 1,000 k's to Broome (3rd time) at least I know all the good camp spots on the way.
See you next session and I hope you enjoy the photos.
Regards Doug.
