This is not the Sterling Rangers but on the way. A monument to Donald Campbell's world water sped record on Lake Dumbeleyung in 1964.
An interesting toilet in Dumbeleyung.
Donald Campbell's Bluebird replica in Dumbeleyung.. World record speed of 444.71 km/h. That's fast, especially in the 60's.
The Sterling Rangers suddenly jumps out at you from a flat landscape. It just get's more impressive the more you see,
This is Bluff Knoll, the highest peak in the Rangers at 1095 m.
It's pretty daunting to see with the clouds swirling around the peak, especially when I intend to climb the sucker.
The clouds disappeared by the time I got halfway up, it ended up quite hot.
It's about 3.5 k's to the summit and this is typical of the track with sleeper stairs all the way to the top. You just don't stop climbing. Some of the track is just a sheer drop like in this photo that I do NOT handle very well., hence the photo taken cramped against the rocks on my knees and eyes shut,
View from the top. (eyes shut on my tummy.)
About two thirds of the way down and a complete different challenge on the body, That is the car park way below, By the time I reached the car I don't think I could have walked another 10 mts. Took a couple of day's to get over it.
Looking back up it is hard to believe that I just climbed that. Definitely the hardest climb I have done.
Just one of the many views driving through the Centre of the rangers. It's not such a big area but very impressive.
