Hi, I'm back!
Sorry but I've been on holiday's, and attending to medical issues (now fit and healthy) maintenance and updates to myself car and caravan as well as visiting family and friends.
I'll present this blog differently from now on so you wont have to put up with my 'babble'. Maybe only this first introduction.
I am just completing a great tour through Victoria and I have had the best time, thanks to my fantastic cousins Karen, Wendy, Jan and Michelle (Nee McPherson). and not to forget Russ (Karen's partner). Actually everyone I have met in Victoria have been amazingly friendly. like the Pomonal walkers group.
I stayed at Karen and Russ's little farm for a week or more. A great place to stay with the van right next to The Grampian's (loved this place), which I hiked a lot and even went on a fantastic ride with Russ on his 1600 Triumph. Russ is a musician and plays his gigs at pubs and wineries etc. So I really enjoyed showing him my skills. (He said I should be on stage! (the first one out of town! he suggested).
I also did a road trip around regional Victoria doing the Silo Art tour. And a train trip to Melton where I stayed with Wendy and caught up with Jan, Michelle and their husbands Gary and John at a very memorable BBQ. Wendy took me for a great drive through to Daylesford and through quite a few other little towns. What a great day. Thanks Wendy.
I am now at a great camp in Casterton about 60k's from the SA border where I'll cross today or tomorrow and have a look around the Coonawarra wine region.
So I'll catch you on my next chapter wherever that may be.
Regards Doug
Taken on a morning walk from a great camp on Mt Franklin. The camp is virtually in an old volcano. This was the only view from the walk up and around the rim. Too many trees.
A view from a spectacular lookout overlooking Ararat.
Ararat's golf course.
I played in the comp with a prison officer from Ararat. We had a lot in common.
Nice course.
Ararat's attraction, J Ward. Use to house the criminally insane.
Halls Gap, the gateway and main center of the Grampians.
