I did play golf at Balranald. what a nice little course for such a small town it's a credit to them. I played on my own for 9 holes and played pretty good.
After golf I headed on up towards Mildura.
Travelled for about an hour and didn't see one corner not even a slight bend except right at my next campsite, Lake Benanee camping area. Great little spot right on a big lake. Had a couple of bourbons with some fellow travelers around the campfire.
The next morning there was a big fog and was it cold. It was the first time I sat directly in front of the heater to get warm. It reminded me of my mother backing up to the open fire and lifting her skirt to get all the right parts warm I suppose. At 11:30 it was still only 4*. And it didn't get much warmer throughout the day.
I wanted to spend some time around this area and check it all out, mainly Mildura but once again the bloody virus upset that plan but I checked out Wello instead.
I'm staying here for two days and I've done a lot in that time. I'm parked right next to the golf club and I still haven't hade a game. Actually, I was planning on playing this afternoon but I felt a bit sore.
I went out to Perry Sandhills (just outside of Wentworth ) and I walked all over it and as you see in the photo I was full of energy leaping into the air like the young buck I am. Well it turns out that maybe I'm not such a young buck as I thought. (I'm a tad sore tonight)
I also went down to the park were the Dowling meets the Murray. It was very peceful there and just bellow that was lhe lock. All the photos explain everything so enjoy.
01/16
I'm heading off tomorrow morning to Lake Mungo National Park. (about 1.5 hours from here).
I've booked into the main campground there for three days and I'm pretty sure I won't have any phone or internet out there so it will be a few day before I can post on here.
Even after that Ill head to Lake Menindee (out from Broken Hill). So I maybe longer, but I will return.
So I've replenished my water, fuel food and bourbon and did a bit of maintenance on the van so I'm ready for action! (I'd better rest my weary bones and get to bed).
My project I promised to show you
As you may have guessed I love my golf, always have and always will.
But when playing a round that takes about 4 hrs. one usually walks around 9 - 10 klm's. That's a bloody long walk on it's own, even though I still love to walk but it's hard on your body especially when you start to get on in age a little.
I played a lot at Narooma where it is quite hilly and I walk it fine, (not like some of my buddies back there (lazy bastards) . But quiet often, especially when I'm playing well my game falls apart at the end. I't not until I get home that I relise I'm completely buggard. Not always but some times.
I now relise that it's great to get out and exercise but I'm there to play the best golf I can and walking and playing golf for that long at my young age really don't add up.
So the answer is a golf cart. But it's not really for me, I wanted something portable.
Most golfers these days have an electric buggy (including me) that wheels your clubs along so you can walk merrily behind. I think that's like having a working dog and barking yourself.
I put a lot of thought and design into a elect. buggy that at least you can stand on and get a lift at least. But to cut a long story short I came up with this.......
